Edmond Mack Adds Massillon Assistant Law Director to Resume
As of April 25, 2022, Canton Attorney Edmond J. Mack has added another title to his résumé: Assistant Law Director for the City of Massillon. Edmond eagerly joins the City of Massillon’s Law Department, Civil Division to lend his legal expertise to a City he has represented as lead counsel in disputes and matters over recent years.
Through a special, first-of-a-kind agreement, Edmond’s public service with the City will be part-time, as Edmond’s full-time focus is aggressively advocating for the clients of Mack Law Co., LPA.
What does an Assistant Law Director do?
An assistant law director contributes to civil matters involving Massillon City Council as well as the City’s officers, boards, and commissions. The Law Department represents and works side-by-side City administration officials as well as the Mayor of Massillon, Kathy Catazaro-Perry.
This unclassified, at-will position in the City works on the legal aspects of areas such as annexations, building code enforcements, drafting and reviewing of contracts and legislation, city property damage claims (i.e., potholes, etc.), public records requests, civil litigation subpoenas, and zoning code enforcements.
What will Edmond be doing in the Massillon Law Department?
Edmond will be working closely with the Law Director, Justin W. Richard, and Chief Counsel, William L. Bartos, on areas such as those listed above. On occasion, he may be asked or required to attend Massillon City Council meetings or other City meetings held for the public that occur after normal business operating hours.
As someone who has held public office before as the Canton City Councilman for Ward 8 for more than six years, Edmond brings to Massillon a wealth of knowledge regarding public service, enacting public policies, working in true bipartisanship, and ensuring the legal framework of City matters is solid. As an accomplished licensed attorney in the state of Ohio for almost two decades, Edmond also comes with extensive capabilities in legal research, writing, application of state laws, legal practice and first-hand courtroom experience.
There is no doubt his legal abilities will make a great addition to the already-adept City of Massillon’s Law Department team.
“The City of Massillon’s Law Department - both the Civil and Criminal sides - are compromised of young, eager, and innovative attorneys who are poised to do great things to further improve the City. I am very excited to be a part of the Law Department team and the City.”
- Attorney Mack
“Attorney Mack’s legal experience and acumen are only matched by his integrity and dedication to the Rule of Law. He is an incredible addition and asset to our already fantastic team at the Massillon Law Department.”
- Massillon Law Director Justin Richard

Edmond routinely represents clients before townships, cities, and counties located throughout Northeast Ohio.
